Congratulations to Wesley, from Atlanta Dental Solutions

At Atlanta Dental Solutions, we value the relationships that we form with our patients, and even if we only see you for the occasional checkup, we love to learn a little about you, our patients! When Wesley and his mom (both patients at Atlanta Dental Solutions) shared with us the news that he had earned the Eagle rank in his local Boy Scout Troop, we wanted to extend our congratulations to him!

With only 2% of all Boy Scouts nationwide ever achieving the Eagle Rank, Wesley has earned a truly prestigious honor. As part of one of his service projects, Wesley led a team that planned, assembled and erected a tennis tournament scoreboard at Sandy Springs Tennis Center. As one of our patients at Atlanta Dental Solutions, we are so proud of Wesley!

The Pankey Institute and Continuing Education at Atlanta Dental Solutions

Both Drs. Una Chung and Daren Becker are members of the Pankey Institute, a nonprofit organization that promotes optimal oral health care through advanced continuing education for dentists. It was the first institute of its kind and remains among the most prestigious, attracting dentists from 42 nations to its educational programs. It is estimated that nearly 20,000 dentists and specialists have attended its courses and now serve millions of patients worldwide. Dr. Becker is also a visiting faculty member of the Pankey Institute, making him one of only 102 practitioners selected worldwide to serve on the visiting faculty!

Dr. Becker most recently facilitated an interactive class designed for dentists to learn more about occlusal disease and how to restore and align damaged teeth for optimal function with esthetically beautiful, long-lasting results. Occlusal disease develops when upper and lower teeth do not fit together properly. “TMJ” problems, including pain, may occur as teeth wear against each other. Grinding teeth can make this problem much worse. Even in the absence of pain, the uneven bite is affecting tooth structure, bone, roots, gum tissue, and jaw joints. Excessive wear, cracks, fractures, tooth movement, tooth sensitivity, cavities, and gum disease can all be part of the occlusal disease process. Call Atlanta Dental Solutions at 404-496-5535 to learn more about occlusal disease and how it can be treated, or learn more about Dr. Becker and Dr Chung’s continuing dental education on our web site!

Gum Disease Can Sneak Up On You

It’s easy to tell when you have a cavity; but unfortunately, gum disease can exist in your mouth without you even knowing. In fact, you can have the beginning stages of gum disease without noticing any pain or discomfort. Since gum disease can be undetectable, it’s important to watch for warning signs in order to prevent the disease from worsening!

Signs to watch for:

• Gums that appear red or swollen
• Gums that feel tender
• Gums that bleed easily (during brushing or flossing)
• Gums that recede or pull away from the teeth
• Persistent bad breath
• Loose teeth
• Any change in the way teeth come together in the biting position
• Any change in the way partial dentures fit

If you or someone in your family is showing these signs, schedule an appointment right away by calling 404-496-5535. We can diagnose the problem and begin treatment to save your teeth and give you back a healthy mouth!
